Our lesson today was presented by Darla Cox from Conference address “What Thinks Christ of Me?” by Elder Neil L. Andersen.

I am so grateful to be here; it has been an awesome month. Two weeks ago we had our Regional Conference and last Sunday the dedication of the Brigham City Temple. Last night we enjoyed the General Relief Society Broadcast. It was fantastic. I want to share with you something interesting. Six month ago Neil Andersen have a talk “What Thinks Christ of Me?” and last night the new Relief Society General Presidency sisters took many of his words as they talked to us. He was there lst night and I'm sure he was pleased as how the sisters reinterated his remarks. We get to review it today. The Lord's timing is always perfect.

Jesus asked the Pharisees, “What think ye of Christ?” In the final assessment, our personal discipleship will not be judged by friends or foes. Rather, as Paul said, “We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” At that day the important question for each of us will be, “What thinks Christ of me?”

President Monson has described our day as moving away “from that which is spiritual...[with] the winds of change [swirling] around us and the moral fiber of society [continuing] to disintegrate before our very eyes.” It is a time of growing disbelief in and disregard for Christ and His teachings.”

Loved how Brother Chou commented on preparing. We are living in different times.

Lat night Sister Linda Burton, the new General Relief Society president mentioned three things that refer to the Atonement.
  • All will be made right through the Atonement.
  • There is power in the Atonement to enable us to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • The Sacrifice of his perfect son is evidence that his Father loves us.

Holly B read: “Being a disciple in these days of destiny will be a badge of honor throughout the eternities.” Like Sister Burton said last night. Have it written in our hearts; that will be our badge of honor.

Our lesson today was presented by Pat Heaton, our new teacher. Lesson # 18 “Stay on the Lord's Side of the Line”, from the George Albert Smith Manual.

She wrote on the board:
Stay on the Lord's Side of the Line
Commandments = help us resist Evil – find happiness

It's good to be back with you sister, although I would much rather have Amy be here and I there. But this is the way of the church, callings and releases.

This lesson is such an important one; it's as important as a gospel doctrine lesson As I read the title ad the material, a poem came to my mind. I used to know by heart when I taught the young women, but I will read. I'm sure that many of you are familiar with it. It was written by Joseph Malins, entitled “A Fence or an Ambulance”. It fits perfectly with our Relief Society message. As I read it, see if you see a symbolism and analogy to the gospel. It does have lots of analogies to the gospel.

A big thank you to Amy W., for all the wonderful lessons we enjoyed. We know she will be a big asset to Christy Smith as Compassionate Service Assistant. We welcome Pat Heaton as a RS teacher.

Our lesson today was presented by Martha, taken from lesson #17, “The Strengthening Power of Faith”

This week has been a wonderful week spiritually, but also a hard week. My brother who is in the hospital has had a set back. However, the Lord has helped bear me up. I found myself at the hospital with him and he looked bad, his face hollow and pasty. We were at that place this week where I had his face in my hand and asked him, are you with me. He could barely speak and said “ I am so sick”. It was a difficult moment, but these are the moments we're all having sometimes. When our love ones are struggling with health issues, or other issues, where we think there is no end in sight. My sister-in-law continues to be there since April, but she has her children and school started and she said, “I can't carry one, don't know where it'll go. I found myself thinking of a scripture that I learned on my Mission located in D&C 84:88: And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.”

I can't solve his problem, but I know how to cope, what to do when you can't help. That is the Atonement. The Atonement isn't just for repentance. The Atonement is also when the Savior is there to bear our burdens. I find myself in awe to know that not only the Savior but also ancestors and love ones who help us. My sister has a daughter who got married; it wasn't a wedding that we are used to, but more like a backward wedding. So we rallied as a family and all who could go went to support my sister and my niece. Hopefully we were a good example to her and her husband and baby. While there we went to the Washington, D C Temple. While there I had been pondering a lot about my faith; what makes me tick; my former trials. We all have our Gethsemane time, when we define ourselves and the role of the Savior in our life and why we need him.
